Friday we were able to attend the 4th and 5th grade Veterans' Day assembly. The kids truly enjoyed it and I know they are looking forward to their first performance of the the year. They got to listen to a special performance by Treasure State Sound... The gentleman directing was my choir director, and long time friend, head of the district music department Mr. Scott Corey! The kids loved it! Their little heads bouncing around and fingers tapping along, made me so happy.
We also got to experience our first field trip of the year, and picnic in the classroom! We had a blast at the Alberta Bair theater watching "Moon Mouse!" It's pretty cool to see what can be done with some ordinary shin guards, a helmet, and some colored lighting! The kids were awestruck! We barely beat the clock getting back from the the theater, as we rolled into the parking lot just before the dismissal bell. What a great way to end the week!
This week we will be working hard on our multiplication and reading comprehension skills, so keep practicing those math facts and encouraging that nightly reading. Keep checking into spellingcity and practicing those spelling words! We will also be putting the final touches on the narrative pieces we have been writing. Some of the kids are all done, and others are nearing the finish line! There is some serious writing power and talent in our room!
Keep doing what you are doing parents, these are some great kids!
